Compliance & Safety Standards
Quick search…⌘K
Auto Glass operations are governed by federal motor vehicle safety standards, state insurance regulations, and industry certification bodies. Compliance is a condition of operating in every insurance network and is enforced at the platform level.
Regulatory Non-Negotiables: AGSC certification, FMVSS 205/212 compliance, and ADAS OEM calibration protocols are mandatory. No job may be completed without meeting these standards. The system enforces compliance checkpoints at work order completion.
Federal Standards
| Standard | Title | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
FMVSS 205 | Glazing Materials | All replacement glass must meet AS1 or AS2 rating; OEM-equivalent optical clarity and impact resistance |
FMVSS 212 | Windshield Retention | Urethane adhesive must meet 2,500 PSI shear strength; fast-cure urethane must be FMVSS-compliant grade |
FMVSS 216 | Roof Crush Resistance | Windshield contributes 30–60% of vehicle roof strength in rollover; proper bonding is structurally critical |
FMVSS 126 | Electronic Stability Control | ADAS recalibration required post-windshield replacement to maintain ESC sensor accuracy |
Industry Standards
| Standard | Body | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| AGRSS | Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standard Council (AGRSS) | Defines proper removal, surface preparation, urethane application, and SDAT procedures; mandatory for all technicians |
| AGSC Certification | Auto Glass Safety Council | Third-party technician certification; required for Lynx, Safelite, and major insurance network eligibility |
| NAGS Standards | National Auto Glass Specifications | Industry pricing and part numbering reference; required for accurate insurance claim billing |
| OEM ADAS Protocols | Individual manufacturers (Toyota, GM, Ford, BMW, etc.) | Manufacturer-specific calibration targets, drive cycle requirements, and tool specifications |
Technician Certification Requirements
| Certification | Issuing Body | Renewal | Platform Enforcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| AGSC Auto Glass Installer | Auto Glass Safety Council | Every 3 years | Expiry date stored; alerts at 60/30/0 days; expired tech cannot accept new jobs |
| ADAS Calibration Technician | I-CAR / OEM-specific | Annual | Required flag on tech profile; ADAS jobs only assigned to certified techs |
| OSHA 10-Hour Safety | OSHA | Every 5 years | Logged in HR system; not platform-enforced |
